The hotel

The Park Inn by Radisson Palace stands on the Western Esplanade in Southend-on-Sea, overlooking the River Thames. Its 137 rooms are spread over six storeys, and the Pier View restaurant serves modern British and European dishes, while the bar looks out over the Thames Estuary.

The hotel was built in 1901 and opened as the Metropole before taking the name Palace Hotel. A conversion costing 25 million pounds, opened in 2010, kept many features of the original building.

A Grosvenor Casino and a fitness centre are located within the hotel.
